Our purpose is to help you believe in the Arts as an important function of education. Our goal is to show that the Arts are not an entity in themselves but have a major contribution in the value of education, not only in the classroom, but in the world around us. Our objective is to show the Arts are not just entertainment, but have a purpose in formal education and play a major role in society.

Significant Postings from the Blogging Experience

To support our belief that the arts are an important part of the educational experience, I too feel the most significant posting was from jchabuc23. This person is well aware of the impact of music on learning and has seen first hand what a powerful tool it can be in memorization exercises. mlclark posted first hand experience as well addressing the importance of art expression as a means of communication. Art is one of those things we all take for granted, but as Robin pointed out in her comment to a posting by Matt, we sure would notice if art was taken away! Although this post could slip by unnoticed, I felt it was one that maybe was sparked by a new awareness brought about by reading our blog. Matt simply stated that he is now taking notice of the art that is all around us. I believe this awareness is where it all begins! We hope that through this blog and this experience, no-one will take art for granted again. Our greatest success would be for everyone to seek out all forms of art, enjoy the experience the arts bring, and recognize their importance in enriching not only their life, but the entire community. If that were accomplished then there would be no question whether the arts belonged in formal education.
